Beautiful Kerala (God’s Own Country)

ME AND THAT GIGANTIC PALM(alleppey backwaters of vembanad lake)

This is god’s own country, Kerala,India.

Kerala, a state situated on the tropical Malabar Coast of southwestern India, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Named as one of the ten paradises of the world by National Geographic Traveler, now its featured in the top 10 destinations of the world but no words, expressions, exclamations can do justice to that pristine beauty of this state.from the Periyar lake to Alappuzah (alleppey)houseboats,to the Thekkady Elephant safari to aromatic body massages this place is truly a piece of heaven on earth. These photos are from my december 2013 trip.I went to ,Cochin (famous for its chinese fishing nets),Munnar( tea gardens),Thekkady(jungle safari),Alleppey (backwaters),Periyar wildlife sanctuary, and Kovalam beach near Thiruvananthapuram.Several ancient ritualised arts are Keralite in origin; these include kalaripayattu (kalari (“place”, “threshing floor”, or “battlefield”) and payattu (“exercise” or “practice”).I also saw the world famous Kathakali dance performance. I had a body massage by the name of shirodharya and it defatigued me completely.

My trip was of a week’s duration but i tried to squeeze in as many tourist destinations as possible.I had my fill of idlis, uttapams and dosas…… te amo kerala, u r awesome. šŸ™‚
